Week 6 - Zack Arias

Zack Arias

Photographer based in Atlanta whom photo style is based on simple, bold, classic and true. Photographed big shot company's CEO like Coca-Cola and General Motors and even launched social media campaigns for Land Rover.

 Zack Arias photos concentrates on his subject. He makes the point that he wants people to focus on stands out of the whole photo. Despite having simple concept, simple background and story, his photos feel alive. Sometimes his photos as though it's being made using computer but it's actually a real photo he takes with his camera. He is able to convince people to look for him to take nice photos with his photos and words. Making the subject the focus of the photo to attract the attention of viewers is important which I think I should learn from Zack Arias.

Week 5 - Nirrimi Firebrace

Nirrimi Firebrace

An award winning teenager photographer known for soft, dreamy portraits of young doe-eyed girls. Nirrimi was initally a writer with imagination as big as the universe. She was first exposed to photography in the age of 13 when she took photos of her little sister which made her passion grew quickly to obsession.

 I was also exposed to photography around the same age as Nirrimi, when my friend first brought her DSLR out during out outing together. It was the first time I've seen a different camera which I find it interesting. She thought me about the different settings aside from what normal camera does and soon my interest grew. I like the way how Nirrimi captures moment in her life which she calls it "freezing" moments of her life because the reason why I enjoy photography is that I can keep memories of moments I like. The photos she take may seem simple but you are able to feel the story behind and smile with it which I think it's amazing and I can learn from.

Week 4 - Jared Polin

Jared Polin

Reflection:

Jared Polin is a photographer I look up to. The depth of field and the contrast of his photo really makes his photo feels alive. I first knew him because of my friend who was influence by him in using nikon camera, that's when I started to check on Jared Polin. He takes photo of basic stuff, even when his mom was hospitalised, he took photos of her. Capturing her mom's expression from the day she was admitted to the smile on her face when she was recovering. I feel that depth of field is important in images and also I like the way he controls the lighting and contrast in his photos.

Week 3 - Henri Cartier - Bresson

Henri Cartier - Bresson

French photographer being considered as the father of photojournalism. He was the master of candid photography. He helped in developing the street photography style. Photography took him to many places such as China, Mexico, Canada, US, India, Japan and even the Soviet Union. He became the first photographer to be able to photograph "freely" in the post-war Soviet Union. He then quit photography and return to drawing and painting.

Reflection:
Henri Cartier - Bresson being known as the godfather of street photography is someone whom I look upon to. I enjoy taking street photography as we just take whatever that attracts our attention when we are moving, be in a moment or situation. The different elements he has in his pictures make his images even more interesting than it seems. Street photography may be easy as we do not have to plan a location or special lighting but what makes it difficult is in the skill of making your photos stand out. I think learning from his photography style.

Week 2 - Ansel Adams

Ansel Adams

Photographer born in San Francisco whose well-known for his impressive black and white photos of the American Old West. He invented the "Zone System" for controlling contrast and finding the correct exposure for a picture. He was initially trained to be a professional pianist, however, he became interested in photography when his father gave a kodak box brownie to him in Yosemite for a family visit. He returned with better cameras on a tripod and his photos could be seen almost every where such as calenders and national parks as a historical record. He had won many awards such as nation's top civilian honour, the Presidental Medal of Freedom.

Reflection:

Personally, I like Black and White photos more because I feel that without the colours, people will look into the photos more. That's when the beauty of the picture comes into life. Colours can simply make your photos nice as it makes your photos living but making a Black and White photos stand out, you need to have a strong photo. Adam Ansel makes his photos stand out with it's depth and clarity, making it his style alongside with his photos being black and white which I feel I should learn in making my images sharp and with a depth.

Week 1 - Jimmy Mcintyre

Jimmy Mcintyre 

He is a travel photographer whom writes for largest photography websites in the world. His photos have been published in national magazines, including BBC. Jimmy also teaches photography and open courses for professional photographers and people who are interested in photography.

Reflection:
Jimmy Mcintyre photos really attracted me simply with its beauty. He's been travelling around the world, taking photos of corners he visited of the globe. Even though his photos are photoshopped but the way he does it really adds more colours to the original photos. His main source of income to supporting his travelling expenses comes from his post-processing courses. He is really good at photoshop and even share his knowledge with his readers on the internet. I would also want to travel and take pictures just like him in the future as it allows me to explore and see more corners of the world. Photoshop plays an important role in making our photos more "alive" and so I should learn more from him.
